About me
About me
Hi I'm Akili (she/her) and I'm passionate about creating colourful user experiences and making a positive impact through design!
Most recently in my professional life, I worked as Brand and Digital Designer with Literal Humans (a digital marketing agency) designing visual identities, websites, newsletters and more. I also had the great opportunity to work as a UI/UX Designer with Say it Good studio x Spotify for over a year. Before that, I enjoyed a few years of freelancing as a Brand Designer and Illustrator. One of my proudest achievements was running my own sustainable Shopify store for a couple of years, Akili, where I sold bold, colourful, and eco-friendly clothing and art prints—though it's currently closed.
My academic path laid a solid foundation for my career. I graduated from Loughborough University in 2019 with a BA in Graphic Communication & Illustration, which included internships at Deloitte (in Luxembourg) and Adludio (in London).
But of course life isn’t just about work! I’m a lifelong learner, always eager to dive into something new. These past years, I’ve taken courses in Portuguese, Korean and French, learned how to surf, learned how to sew, conquered Figma, and even tried my hand at pottery whilst dance classes have kept me on my toes! Traveling is another big passion of mine. Over the past 12 months, I’ve had the joy of immersing myself in different cultures—spending months in Brazil, France, South Korea, Japan and Thailand. This love for adventure likely stems from my childhood, where I had the experience of growing up in Germany, the UK, and The Gambia.
In all these experiences, both professional and personal, I've found that diversity fuels my creativity. I'm excited to continue pushing boundaries in design and embracing the unexpected twists that make life—and design—so vibrant. Here's to crafting more colourful, intuitive experiences and embracing the journey ahead - wherever it may lead!
